PURGATORY IN LIFE

After doing some thinking and researching (I read Charles Saatchi's Dead: A Celebration of Mortality) I began to think of parts of life that are similar to purgatory or limbo; waiting rooms, waiting at bus stops, death row, just spaces between two events, a time where the only purpose is to wait.

Charles Saatchi's DEAD, the book is made to look like a marble gravestone which i found very interesting, although the book is very morbid, the humour Charles brings in to it makes it incredibly fantastic, his celebration of mortality is gold.

This was a picture I found that relates to my idea of a limbo in real life, a crowd of people at a bus stop in the rain, theyre packed in trying to avoid the rain. this part of their journey is stationary they've all been somewhere and are waiting to go elsewhere.

Death row is probably one of the most powerful situations I'm looking at, its a limbo between life and death rather than heaven and hell. A place where life has no purpose but just to wait until death.
